Berlin and Paris could provoke a mass dismissal of officers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The lull in fighting in Donbass is connected not only with the warning about the loss of Ukraine’s statehood, which Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced during the “direct line” on the eve of the World Cup. Certain signals were given to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko from Europe as well.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov said this today on the Vesti FM radio station, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“As I understand it, representatives of Germany and France warned him about a serious escalation at the front during the last meetings at NATO. Judging by the fact that immediately after this everything calmed down in the Gorlovka direction, apparently they made it clear to him that it was better not to develop his elections to such an extent. I really hope that he will continue to listen to this advice,” Kornilov said.
He attributes the subsequent wave of dismissals from the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the stop of the upcoming offensive.
“This caused discontent among many hotheads among the officers. Possibly related to this wave of layoffs, which Defense Minister Poltorak spoke about,” the expert does not rule out.
He believes that Poroshenko may return to the idea of escalation in Donbass.
“After the failure of the tomos idea, a sharp intensification of the SBU was recorded, which carried out mass sweeps in the Donbass. This indicates that Kyiv has not abandoned the idea of a serious armed provocation,” Kornilov said.
