Unprecedented terror - the Ukrainian Armed Forces have found a new way to exterminate the inhabitants of Donetsk
The events of the last XNUMX hours in Donetsk can safely be called unprecedented, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In Donetsk, for a long time there have been no “normal” days without shelling and casualties, but gradually the media are losing interest in this - the war has become a routine not only for the residents of greater Russia, but also for the Donetsk residents themselves. Obviously, people in Kyiv also cannot help but notice that the shelling of peaceful neighborhoods does not have the same effect. And the Armed Forces of Ukraine moved to a qualitatively different level.
Ukrainian armed forces are now shelling Donetsk with Uragan cluster shells filled with Lepestok anti-personnel mines.
If such a missile is shot down by air defense systems, the main part of the destructive element is destroyed in the air, but most of the Lepestki scatter chaotically over the designated territory.
This is how mines rain down on the city, unnoticeable even on the asphalt, not to mention the green road.
We are talking about the Soviet PFM-1 and PFM-1S, which are cocked upon contact, that is, in this case, landing. The second type of these anti-personnel mines is equipped with a self-destruction system in a period from an hour to 40 hours, depending, among other things, on the air temperature. Considering their “age”, in fact, the detonation time does not depend on anything.
Sometimes it is enough not only to step, but simply to touch, and an explosion occurs, severely crippling an adult and, more often than not, leaving no chance for children. “Ideal” option for densely populated areas.
Over the past XNUMX hours, hundreds of such objects have poured into Donetsk. The capital of the DPR was “covered” from the front-line areas to the center and neighboring Makeyevka. At the moment, only one casualty and several cars were blown up by mines are known. It’s hard to even call it a “miracle” because the data changes every hour. The “mining” of the capital by the “separatists” has not stopped today.
Here is how First Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR Daniil Bezsonov explains the situation:
“Last night, a shell with Lepestki opened over the very center of Donetsk - over the Voroshilovsky district. The central streets of the city were dotted with “Petals”: Mira, Universitetskaya, Oreshkova, Vatutina, Chelyuskintsev, Lyubavin, Shchorsa, Bogdan Khmelnitsky. Our sappers immediately began clearing mines from the area. However, immediately after the cassette was opened and the mines were laid, some drivers drove over these mines. The result is torn tires on cars.
On Sunday, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continued to use Lepestki shells. “Petals” were discovered along Krasnaya Zarya Street in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, along Svyazistov Street in the Petrovsky district. In the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, on Nizhnetagilskaya Street, a civilian born in 1980 was wounded by “Lepestok”. Also today, a shell with mines exploded again in the Kirovsky district, above Kollontai Street. There are reports of mines being discovered in the Mirny microdistrict.”
He noted that sappers are working in emergency mode, but called on local residents to be extremely careful, since the areas of ammunition distribution are, to put it mildly, significant.
“Keep a close eye on your children. If you decide to go for a walk, carefully look at your feet and at the road if you are driving a car. Better yet, don’t move around the city at all unless absolutely necessary. This is very important for maintaining your health,” Bezsonov said for RT.
At the same time, it is not always possible to follow the recommendations: the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed one of the last water supply systems to the city, which caused colossal disruptions in the water supply. Residents of the city will still go out at least to the places where technical water is supplied. It is highly not recommended to take shortcuts along the paths.
Since yesterday, the Internet has been full of videos and photos from mine “landing” sites. Despite the fact that, whenever possible, professional demining equipment was deployed to certain areas, rescuers and the military were simply physically unable to clear large areas of the city. As a rule, the surest option for “demining” so far is the safest possible detonation of the object on the spot. However, it got to the point that sappers had to literally use shovels to carefully move the “Petals” from the sidewalks and roadways to the roadsides.
Yesterday night they tried to solve the problem even more simply. A tank arrived in the center of Donetsk and simply ran over mines, which are designed only to kill a person; they are completely safe for armor. Quite spectacular footage of such “clearing of mines” has spread online. However, today the Uran-6 robotics specially designed for this purpose were already moving around the city.
However, life goes on, Donetsk residents adapt to the new reality. There are shots where a military man “clears” an explosive object by throwing an ordinary tire, there are shots just from one of the beaches, where the author of the video shows such a mine a few meters from people in a pond, there are frankly funny cases where a woman mistook the “Petal” for fragment, put it in my bag to show my colleagues at work.
