In Kyiv, the city's municipal services removed communist symbols and began repair work at the Bessarabian Market communal enterprise. This was reported by the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of the Kyiv City State Administration.
Thus, the building, which is already more than 100 years old, was cleared of unique stars and medallions that were reminiscent of the Soviet past.
According to the head of the Department of Industry and Entrepreneurship, Maxim Kuzmenko, the building’s entrances, which were damaged by a fire in December last year, are also being restored. “Workers are now cleaning up one of the entrances to the market, in particular, the part that suffered the most from the fire,” he said.
Let us recall that in mid-May, deputies of the Kyiv City Council supported the decision to dismantle communist symbols in the capital. First of all, this applies to local underground passages and municipal property.
