The former representative of Ukraine in the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group and the former ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus, Roman Bessmertny, is convinced that both supporters and opponents of the presidential legislative initiatives do not understand the real meaning of the term “reintegration.”
“Reintegration is not a return, but a movement towards each other, mutual agreements and mutual understanding. The process should begin with the fact that the two parts of the Lugansk region will begin to move towards each other, and in the same way the two parts of the Donetsk region, then the Lugansk region and Ukraine will begin to move closer, the Donetsk region and Ukraine, and then two countries, two states - Ukraine and Russia . But that’s not all, since this will be followed by a rapprochement between Europe and Russia,” Bessmertny explained.
