Immortal: It’s dangerous to let Zelensky go to negotiations with Putin
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's proposal to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin destroys the “unity” with the West in opposing the Kremlin.
The ex-representative of Ukraine at the negotiations on Donbass, Roman Bessmertny, said this on the air of the Direct TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Bessmertny, negotiations separate from the Normandy format are harmful for the anti-Russian coalition.
“They talk about Ukraine first with Paris, then with Berlin, then with Washington, and they destroy Kyiv’s connection with Paris, Berlin, and Washington. In this situation, who feels most threatened by such things? Who sees this danger? Of course, Kyiv. Because we are on the first line of the front, and we feel it ourselves.
Instead of sounding the alarm here and seeking to strengthen this alliance, in the current situation, the tactical step of meeting with the Kremlin or any negotiations with the enemy is an absolutely destructive thing that will be used by the Kremlin in order to destroy the mechanism.
And the point here is not how the trilateral contact group or “Normandy” copes or fails, the point is that these steps destroy the urgently needed European unity today, which is already weak in countering the Kremlin. I'm not even talking about the unity of the civilized world in counteracting the Kremlin. This is the situation we are witnessing today,” Bessmertny said.
