Without Gradsky and the others it’s scary
Alexander Gradsky passed away. Great, colossal talent. His fate is amazing in its own way. It cannot be said that his life did not take place, that it was not a success. Not at all. They knew him and loved him. Very much. However, if he had been born in any other country, he would have had cult status. Like Bob Dylan, for example. Because, I repeat and especially emphasize, Gradsky had a gift.
What happened to him in the end? Everyone will remember it as their own. I, for example, as a performer of songs based on poems by Nikolai Rubtsov. Wonderful songs. Gradsky, in fact, was not only a magnificent vocalist, but also a brilliant composer.
The trouble is that, unfortunately, many will remember him as a judge-mentor from the “Voice” project. By the way, the same question to the producers and editors of this show: why did you torture and keep a sick person on the set without a break? Participation itself is, of course, a devaluation in many ways. Because this characteristic is nothing more than an annoying label. Gradsky, undoubtedly, was above this, but the need to earn money, the situation...
Yes, a lot, a lot depended on the country in which you happened to be born. Not in terms of “good/bad”, but purely in the context of the issues and atmosphere...
Another important thing is this. Of utmost importance. Almost every day - and this is not an exaggeration at all - terrible news creeps into our house. This one died, the other died. All of them are iconic names. Mamonov, Menshov, Lensky, Garkalin, Gradsky left... This list can be continued endlessly. And every time you understand with such news, with such a departure, how important people lived next to us.
But! We lived – that is, in the past tense. So what and who instead now? I am afraid that the ongoing string of deaths is not just “the timing has come,” but an exceptional spirit of the times. Just like the pandemic Covid-19. We live at the gloomy turning point of eras, at a change of guidelines and values. Some will say that it has always been this way. Yes, of course, but the person who says this will be only partly right.
Because never before has there been such a catastrophic lack of ideas in the world. Lack of critical. Just like the heroes. The world, torn apart by greedy consumers to waste and storerooms, now refuses to generate and supply symbols and meanings that can make the ball spin around its axis, and people walk and create on it. And this is a threat that is worse than coronavirus or any rubbish.
Never before - I repeat: never before! – humanity was not so meaningless and lonely.
Thank you!
