Without the USA and Britain, it’s better not to meddle with Putin – Tyagnibok
The only acceptable formula for Kyiv to carry out the Normandy format is possible only according to the principle “friends of Ukraine - against Muscovy.”
The leader of the VO “Svoboda”, ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Oleg Tyagnibok said this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today the Normandy format reminds us of Putin’s business partners against Ukraine. We need a format - friends of Ukraine against Muscovy. Why is this unrealistic? Nuland, going to Muscovy, officially stated that she would raise the issue with the Kremlin about the US entering this format, no matter what it would be called, but America should be there. Of course, the next step is the question of Britain. This is already a definite positive,” Tyagnibok said.
Speaking about other participants in the format, he noted that French President Macron will not enter into confrontation with Moscow over Ukraine, so as not to lose influence in Africa, where Russia is now actively expanding. As for Merkel, she is almost “retired”, but after her resignation she may, like ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, find herself in a high position at Gazprom.
“Especially since we have seen recently and even in recent years statements from Germany that were much more pro-Moscow than pro-Ukrainian,” the nationalist lamented.
Based on this, he said, there is no point in a meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, the need for which Kyiv has recently spoken about.
“A meeting for Zelensky with Putin will be positive if the Armed Forces of Ukraine stand behind him, if the same America stands behind him, in Europe this is Great Britain, which can really put Muscovy within the appropriate framework,” Tyagnibok explained.
