Without the transit of Russian gas, Ukraine risks turning into one big “Alchevsk”
Nobody knows whether the Ukrainian gas transportation system is capable of providing Ukraine with gas without Russian transit, and the statements of representatives of NJSC Naftagaz of Ukraine that this can be done exclusively through reverse gas are not true.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Is Ukraine ready to go through the heating season without the transit of Russian gas? I think I'm ready.
Whether this can and will happen without force majeure situations – I am not at all sure.
The risks of force majeure situations are high, and the new government has no understanding of their scale.
When Alchevsk was in Ukraine, at best they were finishing school and only heard about it from the news.
Therefore, I would not be so optimistic, but I understand that representatives of Naftogaz cannot say anything else,” the expert concluded.
