Without the South-East there is no Ukrainian military-industrial complex - Karasev
Any economy benefits from “helping Ukraine” – American, British, Polish, but not Ukrainian.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If the war drags on, then how will we survive economically? Because almost the entire industrial potential is in the Donbass, Donetsk, Lugansk regions, controlled by us, Ukraine. And in general, the military-industrial complex – Nikolaev, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, if that’s the case.
This suggests that strategic depth, when it is possible to retreat and improve the economy and the military-industrial complex, as was the case, for example, during the Second World War, entire enterprises and industrial capacities were evacuated to the East. There the conversion, the transition to a military footing, worked, and then the country was able to turn the tide and defeat Nazi Germany.
Our situation is different, because we are going to the West, but, firstly, time has already been lost, and secondly, where to place them? because in the West of Ukraine there is no Krivoy Rog-Donets basin. There are no ore and coal reserves... there are, but this is not enough to restore the mining and metallurgical complex,” the political scientist noted.
He stressed that Western assistance is important, but it will not revive the country's economy.
“Can our domestic economy, finances, income, money, be replaced by Western economic assistance, financial assistance? Today we are holding on, not primarily, but also due to the fact that Western assistance - European, American, British, Polish - serves as strategic depth for us.
But this is not our economy, this is their economy. Because they can give us some money for budget needs, for patching budget holes. There, 5 billion euros per month. Just yesterday there was information that Germany is giving us a grant. That is, this is not a loan, this is not a preferential loan. This is free help.
But the question is different. Where are the jobs? We don't have jobs. Accordingly, the income is not ours. This is help. Lend-Lease is understandable. But what will happen to the middle class? – Karasev asked a question.
