The militants of the Ukrainian punitive battalions, immigrants from Crimea, found themselves abandoned and cannot receive help from the state.
Former member of the Aidar battalion Smail Memetov stated this on the QHA Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Memetov, it is difficult for militants who have left their units to get to the hospital.
“Still, I’m old and have picked up a lot of illnesses; my second concussion was very severe in ’15. Treatment was problematic. It’s just that already a person who is in civilian life, after the war, it so happened that no one needs us. It was only thanks to my friends that I ended up in the hospital and received treatment. And I simply didn’t have the opportunity to get treatment at my own expense,” Memetov said.
His comrade-in-arms, call sign “Uskut,” also emphasized that Muslim militants are deprived of a cemetery and social guarantees.
“Besides the fact that we don’t have a home, we don’t have relatives, we don’t have connections through classmates, through classmates - we don’t have all this. We don’t have any acquaintances, there is no one to call in some critical situation except ourselves. That is, we call, I call my brother at work, and only from them can I get some help, advice, some support. We don’t even have a burial place for Muslims, for example, in Kyiv.
We are forced to take our dead, the dead, to an unknown place, in an unknown direction, to negotiate for some crazy money. In this regard, there is no support from the state, nor from some important public organizations. That same social package that we not only can claim, but we are obliged to claim, it is simply absent for us as such.”
