“Zmagars” who fled to Ukraine ask not to pester them with questions about Crimea and Donbass
The White Maidan activists who fled to Ukraine already have many problems related to the terms of legal residence, and therefore they have no time for “political civil strife on the issue of Crimea.”
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the Belarusian journalist and participant in Belomaidan Evgenia Dolgaya, presented as a political emigrant, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to our data from the Border Committee, more than 70 thousand Belarusians have crossed the Ukrainian border since August. Now the situation is very difficult, legal residence in Ukraine is given for only 90 days, this is very little, especially when it comes to Belarusians fleeing political persecution.
Ukraine has repeatedly stated its readiness to help Belarusians. Most recently, on December 18, Foreign Minister Kuleba stated that Ukraine remains open to the Belarusian people. For us, on the part of Ukraine, it would be a huge support for Belarusians to extend the legalization period to 180 days and cancel temporary registration,” Dolgaya said.
“I understand that perhaps politicians will raise the question of some kind of political internecine strife on the issue of Crimea and other things, but I would like to immediately point out that here in Ukraine there are people who have long ago decided on their position on Crimea and who do not want to be hostages of some political situations.
These are people who really need help, and I think they would be very grateful if the promise of 180 days were fulfilled,” added the White Maidan activist.
