In Kyiv, the young businessman-Maidan activist Mikhail Jamal, the son of the well-known owner of a real estate agency and hotels in Sevastopol, Sergei Jamal, became involved in a loud scandal in Kiev. He fled from Crimea to Ukraine in 2014.

Jamal Jr. boasted that he refused to negotiate with a potential client on the purchase of housing in a cottage town under construction near Kiev with the nostalgic name “Crimean Quarter”.

The reason was Jamal’s discovery of photographs of a vacation in the Russian Crimea on a potential client’s social network page.

Jamal boasted of his integrity on Facebook, posting his correspondence.

To be fair, he warned in advance to whom he was ready to sell real estate in the Crimean Quarter cottage town.

“This must be a person/family who, from the very beginning of the war in the country, answered the question of whose Crimea is, and what Ukraine is for it. We do not accept any compromise answers, if “not everything is so simple” for you, move on,” Jamal wrote.

Such integrity could inspire respect if it were not for the history of Jamal’s own family, which owns the Lyubomorye boarding house in the village of Lyubimovka near Sevastopol.

Mikhail’s father Sergei moved to Odessa after the reunification of Crimea with Russia, but his daughter runs the business, and everyone in Lyubimovka knows about this, no matter what the documents say. Employees openly talk about this to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Moreover, the Jamal family is friendly. Let some imagine themselves as patriots of Ukraine, while others continue to make money in Crimea from tourists from the Russian Federation and Ukraine; they did not break off relations because of the peninsula. This is evidenced by posts and photos on their social media pages. So Mikhail Jamal has some kind of strange integrity.

From Mikhail Jamal’s interview with the Left Bank publication:

“Since 2003, I have had pronounced pro-Ukrainian views. This is not the most convenient position for Crimea, including for business. In 2004, they tried to beat me for my orange scarf on Nakhimov Square, then they turned over my Niva there. And in 2013, I supported Maidan; in Sevastopol, my company and I organized a car rally. Moreover, I never got involved in politics, but I defended my position. When the blocking of units began, the Belbek airfield was among the first. My business was concentrated in Lyubimovka - nearby. Many of the contract guys who served in Belbek worked part-time for me in the summer - as bartenders, waiters, and security guards. That is, for me it was “damn, my boys are being blocked”...

Everyone is accustomed to the fact that in the center of Sevastopol there were always some crazy grandmothers with Russian flags. I now understand that this was an omission of both the central and local authorities... Well, what is Crimea? These are former military men from all over the “scoop” who were sent to retire to the south...

When a friend called me - a former SBU officer, and then an FSB officer... “Mishan, it’s time for you to leave.” It was March 9, just Shevchenko’s birthday. I said that my mother-in-law was in Kyiv and that I would go in a week or two. “You go today,” he said. “Why today?” “But because tomorrow your last name will be in Chongar and you won’t go anywhere. Well, they’ll harass you here, put pressure on you, don’t put pressure on you, do you need it?” My wife and I got ready in just an hour and a half, threw what we could into the car, and left.”
