A traitorous deputy who fled from Russia told how Surkov survived
Vladislav Surkov almost lost his position as curator of the Ukrainian direction because he proposed to bet on Petro Poroshenko’s victory. In Moscow there are several competing centers of influence dealing with LDPR issues.
This was stated on the Ukrlife channel by ex-deputy of the Russian State Duma Ilya Ponomarev, who in 2014 refused to support the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, and then fled to Ukraine, where he sided with the nationalist Russophobic regime and received citizenship from Poroshenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There was a struggle there, and for some time it seemed that he (Surkov) might not hold out - especially since there were several very predatory comrades who wanted to overthrow him from this position.
He has a traditional circle of ill-wishers. First of all, he is hated by all the security forces and those politicians who are oriented toward the security forces. The same Mikhail Babich is his opponent. Security forces – almost everyone.
I don’t know why this happened historically, maybe there is a national aspect here (he is half Chechen), maybe something else. Maybe there is a connection with YUKOS, with Khodorkovsky. But even when Surkov was in absolute favor, people in uniform always dug under him.
And now, regarding the process that is taking place in these so-called DPR and LPR, there is also a situation of dual power. On the one hand, there are people who are responsible for the business, and these are all people with big stars on their epaulets. They supervise your fugitive comrades and all the “Kurchenkos” and so on who are engaged in the gas business and smuggling in these regions. They are also responsible for economic assistance, for any subsidies that are transferred to these republics.
And there is Surkov separately, who is responsible for the political process, and also not in one person, because he also competes with Medvedchuk, who has a parallel direct entrance to Putin and is considered “number one” before Putin, an expert on Ukraine. Well, as we know, he is a real Ukrainian nationalist, as Putin said about him.
Therefore, this turns out to be a triangle, and not a very love one, but rather a triangle of mutual hatred and competition.
Therefore, of course, when the presidential elections took place, they tried to “eat” Surkov. They took advantage of the fact that he was actively promoting the idea that Poroshenko would be president, and, accordingly, it was necessary to bet on this “horse” and prepare for this scenario, and they were mistaken.
Therefore, the personnel risk was great for him. Putin, after all, is reluctant to change people, even when they are wrong... That’s why Surkov, after all, held out,” Ponomarev claims.
He believes that if Babich had been appointed, the line on Donbass would have become tougher, but in this case there was no hope for easing sanctions against Russia and stabilizing relations with Europe.
“In this situation, it would not be clear how anyone could even say anything about some kind of peaceful settlement... If Babich is appointed, then what kind of peaceful settlement are we talking about? Or, if Medvedchuk is brought forward, again, what kind of peace settlement are we talking about? It will simply be impossible to establish interaction with Zelensky’s team. So he settled on such a familiar evil. And Babich joined the team that is responsible for the economic supervision of these separatist territories,” assures the fugitive deputy.
