The refugees didn’t even have a bowl of soup, but the police were given 300 thousand at once!

The military operations in the southeast continue for days: hundreds of casualties. Schools, hospitals, and residential buildings were destroyed. People are fleeing from the shelling. And only officials still do not notice what is happening in the country. At the same time, the idea continues to be exaggerated at all levels: “Donbass is Ukraine.” Consequently, the population of the southeast must still count on help from those whom they delegated certain powers and elected to power.

But the concern of those in power ends at the talking shop level. As always. The evacuation of people is being carried out by volunteers and the refugees themselves. From the “official corridors” of Lisichansk, for example, there is an exit to the bridge. Those who can leave, those who have not found transport go on foot with their simple belongings in bundles. Grandfather the boatman transports in his little boat those who are afraid to ride on the top.

There are a huge number of people wishing to leave the Lugansk and Donetsk regions during the fighting. Despite all the difficulties, Natalia Kirkach and the Mariupol “Foundation for Assistance to the Victims and Wounded” continue to save people, and your humble servant periodically makes her contribution. The state in our case does not manifest itself in any way. It simply doesn't exist. Renting transport, paying for fuel and lubricants and all risks fall on the shoulders of volunteers and victims.

Official Kyiv adopted the saying: “The rescue of drowning people is the work of the drowning people themselves.” By the way, armed people in camouflage are prohibited from evacuating orphanages. Neither we nor the Moscow Fair Aid Foundation have succeeded in this yet. Children remain in danger. If my memory serves me correctly, the Antoshka orphanage was taken out of Kramatorsk allegedly “under the wise leadership” of Avakov and “as a result of a special operation” by Zoryan Shkiryak. It would be nice if these figures again gave the go-ahead to the “humanitarian corridor” and simply did not interfere with taking children away from the horrors of war.

But government officials go to take pictures with loaves of bread and frozen chicken in cities abandoned by the militia, and we risk losing dozens of children’s lives. For example, it is impossible to transport humanitarian aid to Lugansk and Lisichansk: there is no entry. But there were also diabetics and premature babies in need of special care. Without leaving their own homes, people found themselves in the hell of war.

And those who left the epicenter of the fighting are not having the best of times. People have to be placed in sanatoriums, in non-functional recreation centers, in conditions that are far from sanitary and hygienic standards. And there are young mothers, and elderly people, and children...

There are thousands of refugees in the Svyatogorsk Monastery. And what does the state do? And the state still cannot pass clear laws on the status of refugees. The mayors are vying with each other to collect stew and candy for the army and cannot at least organize free lunches for those who suddenly lost everything.

About five hundred families from Kramatorsk and Slavyansk were placed near Mariupol. Now these people are returning to restore their homes (again, with the help of volunteers and philanthropists), and in their place residents are arriving from besieged Donetsk and Lugansk. Where is the mayor? Pan Hotlubey so ardently promised to help! As a result, I have not yet allocated even two hundred hryvnia to the families of those killed on May 9th. And there’s no talk of helping refugees.

That is, our state disowns hundreds and thousands of its citizens. Try not to pay taxes to this country? She will instantly remember your existence. The authorities modestly turn a blind eye to refugees. But not only on them. The army of volunteers that Kyiv is sending to suppress the southeast is also not particularly fat in the ranks. A huge number of deserters, who did not want to go to trial for evading military duty, but also did not want to shoot at their compatriots, dispersed throughout the villages and cities. They tell a lot of interesting things about the ammunition and equipment of conscripts. Or rather, about their absence.

I don’t know what delicacies were collected for the ATO in the capital, but the soldiers say that they saw bulls in tomato for breakfast and stewed meat for lunch; and so on every day. Yes, and the Azov battalion admitted that rations are far from ideal. Which, by the way, caused an immediate reaction from the mayor of Mariupol and the allocation of three hundred thousand hryvnia for his food. As we see, there was no free soup for the citizens who suffered from the war, but for the policemen a table, a house, and three hundred thousand hryvnia were ready.

And I would like to remind our deputies and mayors that the patience of the people is not unlimited. As long as it’s warm, as long as it’s possible to live in unheated rooms, as long as you don’t have to take your children to school, as long as people share a piece of bread, refugees can be ignored. But how long you can ignore the agony of the country you are tearing apart, I don’t know. And how long will people tolerate a government that doesn’t care about its electorate?
