Legalization in the Russian Federation will be simplified for refugees from Ukraine
Russia is preparing to simplify the legalization of Ukrainian citizens. In fact, they become violators of migration legislation by not complying with the terms of stay, and are subject to deportation from the country, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes, residents of the current LPR and DPR, evacuated to Russia after the events of 2014, faced such problems. Involuntarily, they turned into illegal immigrants, and a similar fate awaits those who now use humanitarian corridors to travel to Russia.
“Since 2016, despite the president’s decision to extend the period of stay for this category of persons, reports began to be received about the refusal to extend, even for those persons who arrived directly from the combat zone,” explains the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs , Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.
Single appeals and petitions in such cases are ineffective; the problem needs to be solved as a whole. There is no time for changes in legislation; a presidential decree is needed to simplify the procedure for obtaining a residence permit or Russian citizenship. And, first of all, remove restrictions on length of stay. The list of required documents also needs to be revised, as does the payment of state duty and labor patent.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, about 2 million people from Ukraine have asked to be evacuated to Russia. 204 thousand have already entered the country, mostly residents of Donbass. Many have already encountered various bureaucratic difficulties.
