Refugees from Crimea and Donbass irritate Kiev residents, – sociologists
Kyiv, August 15 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) - Refugees from Crimea and Donbass interfere with the lives of Kiev residents and compete with them in the labor market, said Research & Branding Group sociologist Evgeniy Kopatko at a press conference in Kyiv.

He doubts that the Donbass problem will be solved the way it is imagined in Kyiv. He believes the crisis could be as protracted as in northern Cyprus or Ireland.
“We have it all ahead of us. For now, the opinion of Kyiv dominates here - we will now “clean up” the territory, and then we will talk. Then the second position arises - we will give money for restoration. Yes, there is no money and there never will be! The infrastructure of the territory is being destroyed - a thousand houses there have been destroyed. It is good to place this in the summer, while we live off subcutaneous and pasture food. And in just a month it will be cold at night. And in October we need to decide where to send these refugees,” says Evgeniy Kopatko.
“Journalists ask me questions: why aren’t these fellow Donetsk residents who have come here in large numbers tired of them, they are interfering with living in the glorious city of Kyiv. Because refugees become a factor of irritation. It’s only good for the first week when it’s politically motivated,” he says.
Vice-President of the Ukrainian PR League Alena Derevyanko agrees with this opinion. “Refugees are also a factor of pressure on the labor market. And the competition for highly qualified personnel from the east will be very high. This will be an additional factor of irritation. Competition for some kind of housing, apartments is a weak story. And competition for a source of income is something that will affect the interests of many,” she believes.
