On the eve of an offsite meeting on the problems of Bakhchisarai and the surrounding region, the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov checked the progress of the restoration of the palace. The UNESCO monument, for the restoration of which 2 billion rubles were provided from the federal center, has already fallen into scandal twice: once because of the replacement of the original tiles with a new one, the second because of cracks in the wall of the suite building after laying a sewer pipe.

Then Aksenov had to personally intervene in the situation, since not only the cultural and historical side of the issue was affected, but also the interethnic side of the issue - the mufti of the Muslims of Crimea, Emirali Ablaev, demanded an explanation from the Ministry of Culture of Crimea, under whose jurisdiction the palace-museum is included. They agreed on the establishment of a certain expert council that would monitor the progress of repair work.

This time, the Ministry of Culture had to attract the attention of the head of the region: the reconstruction of the museum complex in Bakhchisarai is behind schedule, there are no workers at the site, and without Aksenov’s intervention, the completion date will be missed. The contractor refers to the abundance of artistic and decorative details that slow down the work.

“Today there are enough people at the site, there is enough equipment, there is an understanding of how to restore it all, if not in its original form, then close to the original,” the head of Crimea assured after visiting the palace. – A unique object. Some positions have been closed for more than 40 years, where everything is completely rotten.”

Aksenov also visited the territory of the Salachik archaeological complex in the Bakhchisarai region, where the tomb of the founder of the dynasty Hadji-Girey, a madrasah and a supposed mosque have been preserved. Within the boundaries of the complex are the remains of a medieval bathhouse.

“This is a unique object, a historical and cultural monument that must be preserved for future generations. Such objects must be preserved; they are a heritage and heritage for our children and grandchildren. Everyone should look and know how Crimea developed in different periods of its history,” Aksenov concluded.

The contractor plans to complete the reconstruction of the Khan's Palace facilities in Bakhchisarai in November 2023. They will not break the contract with him, otherwise the work will stop for a long time.
