Saakashvili’s crazy act of returning to Georgia is “part of a Russian special operation”
Using the example of ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, Vladimir Putin showed what he expects from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
Georgian political scientist Gela Vasadze, a former member of the Central Committee of Mikheil Saakashvili’s party and ex-vice-mayor of Batumi, stated this on the channel of the Ukrainian Public Radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I suspect that Saakashvili’s arrival was part of a hybrid Russian special operation in order to neutralize him before the war with Ukraine. This was six months before the war. Why he came, why he came, no one can still explain, and he himself, in my opinion, cannot explain why he came. He just came and surrendered,” Vasadze said.
At the same time, he expressed confidence that Putin had personal interest here.
“Putin has a very simple interest. He wants to show the whole world what it means to go against him. And Saakashvili was the first person who went against him, and he, by the way, promised that Zelensky would end up like Saakashvili, let’s not forget. And how Saakashvili finished, he must show.
Well, as for the Georgian authorities, everything is generally very simple. Risking themselves, risking that Putin will take revenge on them and so on, in order to free their enemy Saakashvili when they are not required to release Saakashvili, all the guys who can really demand this, they will not, Ivanishvili will not be. The logic is very simple,” the Georgian argued.
