“I am a political Ukrainian. I am certainly a Russian person by education and life experience; 50 years of my life have passed in Russia, the last 7 years in Ukraine. But now I am a political Ukrainian,” Kiselev said.
In 2013, Kiselev publicly asked Viktor Yanukovych to provide him with a Ukrainian passport. However, apparently, this never happened, since the presenter did not mention Ukrainian citizenship in his interview.
Before turning to Yanukovych, Kiselyov stated: residents of the South-East of Ukraine, who sincerely love Russia, should actually be glad that today they live in a separate country, and not in the Russian Federation.
“I say to those people who dream of unification with Mother Russia. Guys, you who are trying to get there haven’t been there for a long time. You haven't lived there for a long time. You live in independent Ukraine, and be happy. You are very lucky,” Kiselyov said in an interview with the Odessa TV channel ATV.
“You see, when the Yanukovych regime is called a dictatorship... My good gentlemen, if you want to understand what a dictatorship is, go to Iran or North Korea. Moments to Belarus. In a dictatorship, there is no situation where representatives of the opposition sit on all political talk shows and criticize the current government with their last words,” the “political Ukrainian” said at the same time.
