Visa-free travel for Ukraine will remain only de jure
Europe will not cancel the simplified visa regime for Ukrainian citizens, but in fact it will be limited due to a new wave of the pandemic.
Political scientist Kirill Molchanov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“Nothing threatens the visa-free regime, in the sense that no one will cancel it de jure. Indeed, a number of EU countries, in fact, use, I would even say, abuse the tourist visa-free regime for their own commercial and work purposes. These are countries such as Poland, Estonia, Czech Republic and so on. They turn a blind eye to the fact that, according to these documents, Ukrainians do not have the right to work in the European Union, but it is beneficial for them,” the expert noted.
“But de facto visa-free travel will be limited literally next month due to coronavirus. And, most likely, this loophole will be closed for at least six months, as it was closed from March 2020 to the summer of 2021. I think this is what awaits us in the near future,” said the political scientist.
