Visa-free travel deprives Ukrainian employers of labor resources
In Ukraine, the gap between expected and offered salaries continues to grow.
Tatyana Pashkova, an expert on the rabota.ua portal, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are doing well with unemployment – all employers are complaining that they don’t have enough people to fill vacancies,” Pashkova said.
According to her, the growing gap between expected and proposed salaries is explained by the fact that a simplified visa regime with the EU was introduced in the second quarter of last year.
“The second quarter sharply (compared to 2016) was ahead of the first (in terms of the wage gap). The salary issue was so acute that the third and fourth quarters were unable to reduce the salary gap, which usually decreases in the fourth quarter,” the expert noted.
She added that currently the financial issue is the determining factor in unemployment - many people leave their jobs to find a decent salary, and two-thirds of workers are ready to change jobs because they are not satisfied with financial conditions.
“The largest gap between expected and offered salaries in the first quarter of 2018 was recorded in Kiev - 25% (15 versus 187 hryvnia), followed by Dnepr - 11% (409 versus 12), Lviv - 9% (951 against 8781) and Kharkov – 8% (10 against 028). At the same time, Lviv unexpectedly took third place this year. The visa-free route did its job. Lviv became the leader in average salary growth – 9%. Accordingly, he took an honorable third place,” Pashkova said.
