A visa-free holiday in Ukraine gives way to a severe hangover

Providing Ukraine with a visa-free regime with the EU was the last “carrot” received from Europe. Former speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasily Filipchuk stated this on the air of the Black Mirror talk show.

According to him, the rest of the country will face much less rosy consequences of the unfavorable terms of the association agreement with the EU - the death of entire sectors of the economy, mass protests, etc.

“Visa-free travel is the last big victory. After the visa-free regime, we will face a long, difficult and thankless process of implementing the Association Agreement. Even those countries that had prospects for joining the EU and were member countries went through an incredibly difficult seven or eight years of transformation, when the implementation of certain initiatives brought thousands of people onto the streets, when industries were lost.

In all candidate countries this period was incredibly difficult.

We don’t even have the prospect of joining, there is no financial assistance from the European Union, it’s hard for me to understand what arguments we will use to convince why we need to implement this agreement,” said Filipchuk.
