A visa-free regime with the EU from Poroshenko will be a soap bubble
The visa-free regime for Ukraine promised by Petro Poroshenko will turn out to be a “soap bubble”, which does not at all mean the opening of borders for unhindered travel to the European Union. Political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this on Radio Vesti.
According to him, in reality, Ukrainians will have to collect no less number of documents allowing entry into EU countries than now. As an example, Bondarenko cites the situation with the EU and Moldova, which on paper received “visa-free” back in 2014.

“I always advise all my relatives - get visas, don’t rely on a visa-free regime. Even if there is one, I see the experience of Moldova, which in 2014 supposedly received visa-free travel, but at the same time it is necessary to show a number of certificates at the border. This norm exists - what you previously showed to visa officers at the consulate, you now show the same to the border guards. By and large, a visa-free regime will be a big soap bubble,” Bondarenko said.
