Weak-willed Ukrainians allow themselves to be robbed
The Ukrainian authorities are raising tariffs because they are confident that ordinary people live too well and will not protest at the next tariff increase.
Political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this on the CapitalTV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They truly believe that people have money. Moreover, they sincerely believe that the shadow sector in Ukraine is undervalued, and, accordingly, thanks to the shadow sector, Ukraine has survived so far and will continue to survive.
I talk to both politicians and Ukrainian economists - and they all say that we have at least one more budget in the shadows. The figures that were recently made public - Ukrainian guest workers only officially transferred 12 billion dollars to Ukraine last year, they inspire optimism in Ukrainian politicians who believe that they need to strip a little, plunder, expropriate, and if people do not take to the streets, if people they don’t protest, if people normally perceive the increase in tariffs and the increase in utility services, then, accordingly, we can increase them further,” Bondarenko said.
