"Lawlessness and arbitrariness." The Russian Foreign Ministry assessed the situation around Kosovo
NATO's aggression in Yugoslavia more than 20 years ago marked the beginning of a long-term problem in the region.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this at a briefing in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Zakharova, these issues were recently discussed at a meeting of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
According to the diplomat, the question of compensation for damage from NATO inflicted on the former Yugoslavia remains open.
“NATO’s armed operation against sovereign Yugoslavia more than 20 years ago was a tragedy, the long-term and multifaceted consequences of which are still felt today. One of its main lessons - this is confirmed by the chronic stalling in resolving the Kosovo problem - is that lawlessness and arbitrariness are unable to solve a single problem and only aggravate the situation.
Questions about the responsibility of the North Atlantic allies for the damage they caused to international relations and a specific country remain open,” Zakharova said.
