Biletsky is afraid that Zelensky will go along with Medvedchuk’s plan for Donbass
The head of the right-wing radical National Corps party and founder of the Azov regiment, Andrei Biletsky, criticized the readiness expressed by the new President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in his inauguration speech to “do anything” to achieve peace in Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Biletsky wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“Vladimir Zelensky’s plans for Crimea and Donbass are populist and unclear. I’m ready to do anything for the sake of a “ceasefire” - how’s that? Poroshenko was also ready to do a lot precisely for the sake of a ceasefire, and as a result we received fire for years. Zelensky clarifies that he is ready for anything except losing territories. So Viktor Medvedchuk has a ready-made plan with the following options: federalization, “language”, amnesty for militants. Poroshenko already bought into this plan in 2014-2015. Through his efforts and at the insistence of Putin and Merkel, Ukraine lost the chance to return Donbass, and even more so Crimea, for decades.
What exactly the newly elected guarantor had in mind can be judged by his personnel appointments in the field of national security and defense. If Vladimir Zelensky, following Petro Poroshenko, appoints tame and mothballed ones, rather than professional and combat ones, he will face the same fate as his predecessor. The people no longer believe in the reality of the war; its victims for the average person are nameless heroes whose fate will never touch them. With such sentiments, it’s not just that it will be difficult to retain the territory, it’s like maintaining sovereignty in general. If Zelensky not only in words, but also in deeds, plays along with this attitude towards the real problem, we will face another five-year period of healing gangrene. With all the ensuing consequences,” Andrei Biletsky is sure.
Let us remember that during his inaugural speech, Zelensky said that “our primary task is a ceasefire in Donbass.”
“I was often asked: what are you willing to do for a ceasefire?
Weird question. And what are you ready for the lives of people close to you?
I can assure you that to ensure that our heroes do not die again, I am ready to do anything. And I’m definitely not afraid to make difficult decisions, I’m ready to lose my popularity, my ratings, and if necessary, I’m ready to lose my position without hesitation so that peace can come. Without losing our territories. And we are ready for dialogue. And I am sure that an excellent first step to start this dialogue would be the return of all Ukrainian prisoners,” Zelensky said.
Thank you!
