Battle for Novorossiya: Sevastopol continues to fight

For a year and a half, neither the LDPR nor Ukraine have carried out large-scale offensive operations. However, it would be wrong to say that the battle for Novorossiya has stopped.

The struggle for Novorossiya (even if not with the help of weapons, but in other non-military ways) still continues now. What role does Sevastopol, the city where the Russian Spring began, play?

From the outside it seems that Sevastopol has been living its own life and its own problems for two years now, and it has nothing to do with what is happening in Ukraine (in this case, I do not mean the sympathies and experiences of the citizens of Sevastopol, they, of course, are on the side Donbass; I mean what is usually called “active participation”).

In fact, this is a misleading impression. But if we put together information about the activities of some Sevastopol VIPs, it turns out that Sevastopol did not stop the war for the Russian World and for its Russian compatriots who remained in Ukraine.

In this regard, I would ask readers to pay attention to three Sevastopol personalities: Governor Sergei Menyailo, his adviser, and, as they say, in the near future, his deputy - Vadim Kolesnichenko and the dean of the Sevastopol district of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and the rector of the Vladimir (Chersonese) Cathedral father Sergius (Khalyuta).

What is meant?

Firstly, it’s no secret that the city authorities of Sevastopol, represented by Menyailo, are sending humanitarian aid to the citizens of the mining region. They have been helping for two years now both in the treatment and subsequent rehabilitation of soldiers of the DPR and LPR armies. Menyailo even received gratitude in this regard from the Gorlovka militia. This is not very advertised, since the admiral is still an official person, currently personifies official Russia and cannot openly take the side of the Donbass people.

However, it is very difficult to expect pacifism from the person in 2008 who was responsible for forcing Georgia to peace on the Black Sea. I have no doubt that Sergei Ivanovich is not only in love with Donbass.

From Sevastopol bikers, for example, it is known that the admiral was an active participant in headquarters meetings in the Black Sea Fleet command building during the Crimean Spring, and was also responsible for the logistics of delivering Kuban Cossacks to Crimea. The Cossacks occupied Chongar and did not allow the Right Sectors to enter the peninsula.

Secondly, the Sevastopol deanery of the Moscow Patriarchate is also occupied with the problems of the Russian world. Thus, with the blessing of Father Sergius, humanitarian supplies are constantly sent to Donbass. Moreover, it was Sevastopol that became a shelter for priests of the Moscow Patriarchate who fled persecution from the Ukrainian authorities and nationalists.

According to PolitNavigator, at the moment, about 10 such servants of the UOC MP have found refuge in the city of Russian sailors. Among them is a priest from the Zaporozhye city of Melitopol, Father Andrei Pirogov. On May 9, he went to a demonstration with the St. George Ribbon and refused to remove it at the request of local Nazis.

For the St. George's ribbon and pro-Russian sentiments, Father Andrei was removed from service by the dean of his district, Father Maxim Smirnov. He had to emigrate. To Sevastopol. Now the Sevastopol deanery is helping him. Recently, a PolitNavigator correspondent met Father Andrei in Father Sergius’s reception room.

Due to the fact that we see that the pressure on the UOC-MP is increasing, perhaps the flow of emigrant priests will not only not dry up, but will even increase.

Thirdly, several months ago Vadim Kolesnichenko was appointed advisor to Menyailo. It was Kolesnichenko, together with deputy Sergei Kivalov, who was the author of the language bill. This law was the first to be repealed after the coup in February 2014 by the Verkhovna Rada, which triggered the start of an uprising in Sevastopol and Crimea.

This background clearly indicates that Kolesnichenko will definitely not limit himself to giving Menyailo advice on urban problems.

So, I repeat again, Sevastopol seems destined to soon become what Munich was for all anti-Soviet elements. The hero city, having reunited with Russia, will continue to be at the forefront of the fight for the Russian world.
