Business in the ATO: dozens of pseudo-volunteer offices begging for money from Ukrainians
Internal affairs bodies opened 21 criminal proceedings regarding the collection of funds by volunteers allegedly for the needs of ATO participants or their families.

The agency reports UNN, who made a corresponding request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“According to operational information... it was established that the internal affairs bodies were investigating 21 (under Articles 190, 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) criminal proceedings regarding the collection of funds by volunteers for the alleged needs of ATO soldiers or their families. In particular, such facts were registered in Kiev - 6, in Kherson - 4, Volyn, Zaporozhye, and Nikolaev - 2 each, Dnepropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Transcarpathian, Odessa and Poltava - one each,” the Department of Communications of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine told the agency. .
One of the proceedings has already been sent to court with an indictment.
At the same time, according to information from the investigative department of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kiev, during 2014-2015, 61 statements and messages from citizens about the facts of fraudulent actions of individuals and organizations were registered in the internal affairs bodies of the city. In accordance with the legislation of Ukraine, criminal liability is provided for such “activities” - from a fine to imprisonment for up to 12 years.
“As a rule, unidentified persons acting on behalf of volunteers indicated that they were representatives of charitable foundations or organizations such as: “Children's Palms”, “Strong People”, “Disadvantaged Children”, “In the Rhythm of the Heart”, “Nine Lives” , “Human Ray of Light”, “Union of Mothers”, “Support, Faith, Love”, etc. and on behalf of these organizations or foundations they collected donations or represented themselves as participants in the ATO and asked for funds for treatment abroad,” the Department of Communications reported.
