The State Border Service of Ukraine reports this.
“Law enforcement officers have documented the systematic extortion of bribes for cars passing out of line in front of the Yagodin checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish section of the border. In one day, extortionists could organize extraordinary access for up to 40 vehicles,” the report says.
It is noted that on July 1, law enforcement officers detained a civilian on the spot while receiving another portion of an unlawful benefit in the amount of 900 hryvnia for allowing vehicles to pass out of turn. “The detainee subsequently intended to induce military personnel to commit official abuses for part of the material benefits he received.”
