“Business is higher than security”: an FSB colonel explained why the Crimean Bridge was not covered with booms
No booms were installed along the Crimean Bridge, because these “gates” would have to be opened and closed, which would complicate logistics under the bridge.
The former head of the Ministry of State Security of the DPR, reserve FSB Colonel Andrei Pinchuk said this on air on the Tsargrad TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Pinchuk, in the case of the Crimean Bridge, business is put above safety.
“You see, this story... let's call a spade a spade. What was the problem with preventing this strike? Down to the fighting dolphins, mines are exposed and so on.
A key measure was not taken that would prevent the strike - the so-called boom protection, that is, iron meshes that are stretched along the supports in two rows with appropriate engineering solutions,” the colonel said. It was not accepted not because they did not think of it, but for another reason.
“Once again, business was put above safety. Because this is a question of navigation, capacity through the bridge past the supports of sea vessels. In this case, it would be possible to leave certain gates, open and close them, but this would sharply reduce throughput. Well, excuse me, we either have military operations or business,” Pinchuk said.
