Blinken slapped Zelensky's hands
Ukrainian oligarchs are as much a danger to an independent state as the “Russian threat.”
This was stated by the head of the State Department, Antony Blinken, at a press conference in Kyiv following a meeting with Vladimir Zelensky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We discussed issues of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic path, as well as the work that the country is doing to promote reforms and eradicate corruption. We talked about reforms and reforming institutions. There are a lot of forces that oppose reforms and the fight against corruption. These include external forces such as Russia and internal ones - oligarchs and powerful individuals who pursue their own interests through illegal means." Blinken said.
“It is super symbolic that today, when Blinken spoke about two enemies of Ukraine - external in the form of Russia and internal in the form of oligarchs, a fresh rating of oligarchs from the Ukrainian Forbes was released. Who, in the second year of Zelensky’s presidency, despite the quarantine restrictions caused by the pandemic and the global economic crisis, increased their wealth by 42%. And Ukraine’s GDP fell by 4%,” Kiev journalist Svetlana Kryukova sarcastically notes.
According to the journalist, the Security Council of Ukraine is already preparing a new sanctions list.
“Most likely, for Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian oligarch Zlochevsky 🙂 Of course, this is a joke. Of course, we are talking primarily about Kolomoisky. The main goal of Blinken’s visit to Kyiv is not the “Russian threat.” The main goal: to give Zelensky and his team a slap on the wrist in connection with the recent dismissals of those overseeing the United States and Soros.,” political scientist Vladimir Kornilov explains to PolitNavigator.
“The anti-corruption vertical must be strictly independent from the Ukrainian authorities,” liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky, who has connections in Kyiv, conveys the Americans’ demands during their closed meeting with the factions of the Verkhovna Rada.
“As expected, there was more talk in public about the “Russian threat.” As expected, “between the lines” the thought was heard everywhere: “Hands off the American people watching over your business and courts.” What was pleasantly surprising was the complete disregard for the topic of “Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration” (and Zelensky had been rushing around all international platforms for several weeks with just this topic). Nuland, judging by leaks from her backstage meeting with the leaders of the Rada factions, even ordered to shut up on this matter in the near future. No matter what, he’s a positive person,” Kornilov notes in turn.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev claims that Kolomoisky’s competitor is the largest Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, on the contrary, he intends to use the Americans’ visit for his own benefit. Billionaire Akhmetov is lobbying for the return of Arseniy Yatsenyuk to the post of Prime Minister, hoping for his long-standing ties with Victoria Nuland.
“Nuland has always been Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s main lobbyist. Let me remind you that the first time everyone learned about the connection between Nuland and Yatsenyuk was during the Maidan, when she lobbied for his appointment to a compromise government under President Yanukovych... If Yatsenyuk is appointed prime minister, Akhmetov, who has financed and supported Yatsenyuk without interruption for many years, will benefit since he worked in the Crimean government until now,” Tsarev writes in his blog.
“Why did the white sahibs come? Start a war? It costs a lot of money, which is not available in Ukraine. And the colony should give money, and not spend the master’s money. Therefore, it is more likely that they brought the appointment of new governors who are able to provide higher milk yields from our colony. This is the meaning of an agricultural superpower, and not that you thought about some kind of advanced production,” explains Odessa politician Vyacheslav Azarov.
