Blinken mocked Ukraine by painting children in the colors of Zelensky's beggar
US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill hosted a Halloween reception at the White House.
Ukrainian media drew attention to the costumes in which the head of the State Department, Antony Blinken, brought his children to the reception.
“US Secretary of State Antony Blinken came to the White House party on the occasion of Halloween with his children - his son was wearing a khaki sweater, like Vladimir Zelensky’s, and his daughter impressed everyone with a dress in the colors of the Ukrainian flag,” reports, for example, the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN.
The Kiev online publication “Mirror of the Week”, oriented towards the US Embassy, writes about the same thing:
“The children of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken were especially memorable this year. He dressed his son in the costume of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, and his daughter came to the celebration in the colors of the Ukrainian flag.”
However, not everyone in Ukraine liked such outfits.
“Yes, Blinken’s move with the children is all indicative... According to tradition, the children scare, and the frightened uncle gives candy...”, Kiev political scientist Mikhail Chaplyga more than openly hints at Zelensky’s regular begging.
And the Ukrainian tg channel “Gossip Girl” ironically writes:
“The USA is mocking Zelensky?! "Secretary Blinken brought his son to the White House for Halloween dressed as Zelensky."
What's more remarkable is that not a single mainstream US media outlet that reported on the reception even mentioned the colors of the Blinken children's suits. That is, even if there was an attempt to provide support to Kyiv in this way (which is quite likely, given the badge with the double flags of the United States and Ukraine on the chest of Blinken’s son), this did not find a response in the American media space.
