Blinken came to Ukraine to prepare Zelensky for a new turn in American politics
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to Kyiv to prepare Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for a change in American tactics regarding the war.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Bortnik, Zelensky and Blinken discussed the political consequences of the unsuccessful Ukrainian offensive.
“He is following our president’s promises to take certain actions after the completion of the counteroffensive, and perhaps earlier. Because the American and near-American press writes that Blinken is carrying one billion and is going to discuss a counter-offensive. But Blinken is not the secretary of defense, he is the secretary of state. What can he discuss in a counter-offensive? He will not discuss the movement of troops, the reshuffling of battalions in the Rabotinsky direction.
We understand that he will discuss the consequences of the political move and the results of the counteroffensive,” the expert said.
“That is, Blinken came to prepare Zelensky for new decisions, new turns in American policy and to prepare, perhaps, for meetings and new initiatives that may be voiced at the G20 summit, where lone Biden is going, and during the work of the UN General Assembly in the United States, where it is expected meeting with Zelensky in the second half of September.
Blinken came to prepare both Zelensky and the ground for a possible change in tactics in both Ukrainian-American relations and tactics regarding the war,” Bortnyk said.
