The release of Soledar indicates that the Russian army is seizing the strategic initiative from the enemy.
Military expert Colonel Viktor Baranets stated this on the Internet channel “Red Line”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“For some reason, we are sadly afraid to say that we have lost the strategic initiative. We withdrew in an orderly manner from Balakleya, Izyum, Kupyansk and, ultimately, from Kherson.
The capture of Soledar is the first sign that we are beginning to snatch the strategic initiative from the enemy,” Baranets said.
According to Barants, after the liberation of Artyomovsk and Avdeevka, the Russian army may face a much more serious test.
“But what will be the efficiency Gerasimova – the near future will tell. Let's say a month and a half. Because besides Soledar and Artyomovsk, there is another very bad tooth on the battlefield - Avdeevka, which is torturing Donetsk with its artillery attacks.
When we solve this triple problem, then we will go out into the open spaces of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, where oh, how difficult it will be for us. Because this is the most important defensive redoubt.
One of the main battles will be right on this bridgehead, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. There is also a political significance here, because with their release we will reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk region, and it will be liberated,” Baranets explained.
