Ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anatoly Gritsenko spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya”, answering the question of which Ukrainian politicians could become potential participants in the Magnitsky list - a list of persons subject to American sanctions.
“Americans, like Europeans, are fed up with corruption and theft in Ukraine in times of crisis and war. When they steal not only the money of Ukrainian taxpayers, but also foreign external loans and grants. The US Congress decided to expand the list of countries in which the Magnitsky list will operate. Moreover, advisers to American senators are already coming here for informal consultations, asking: who, in our opinion, should be among the first candidates to be included on these lists? I’ll say right away that these are the president’s favorite friends. At this stage, it seemed to me that they were ready to take on one or two such friends. The names most often heard are Igor Kononeko and Alexander Granovsky. For example, I’m not sure that they will now be able to enter the United States without problems,” Gritsenko said.
