Closer to Europe: will old German women be impregnated in Ukraine?
Federal laws in Germany prohibit German women from undergoing artificial insemination in old age due to the risk to the health of the child and mother, but now they have found a loophole.

Elderly German women, reports tabloid BILD, go to Ukraine to get pregnant. Thus, the German press is discussing the action of 65-year-old Berlin teacher Annegret Raunig, who became pregnant in Ukraine using artificial insemination for the 14th time.
The publication writes: “65-year-old German woman Annegret Raunig, who already has 13 children, is currently artificially inseminated in Ukraine. Doctors, politicians and psychologists criticized the decision. Most of them believe that the woman was careless and irresponsible. The medical risk of such a pregnancy is very high.” Annegret is currently bearing 4 children at once.
Professor Dr. Wolfgang Heinrich, director of the department of obstetrics at the Berlin Charité Clinic, pointed out the health risks: “For women over 45 years of age, these are completely different conditions for childbirth than for women of natural reproductive age. The risk score includes cardiovascular disease, thrombotic disease, diabetes and liver disease risks.”
“Such a pregnancy can become a role model,” expert Karl Lauterbach told Spiegel Online. “From a medical and ethical point of view, the age limit here was exceeded.”
Federal laws in Germany clearly regulate the age at which a woman can undergo artificial insemination. This is why elderly and even elderly German women go to Ukraine for insemination, where there are no clear legal restrictions on artificial insemination.
