After the presidential elections, Belarus will most likely release detained Russians whom Minsk has declared “Russian militants.”

Political scientist Alexei Dzermant, who sympathizes with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, stated this on air on the Internet channel “Capital”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.

“They have not been charged. This suggests that the situation with them will be resolved without any serious legal consequences. Now they are more likely to be suspected of something. And speaking of specific evidence, investigators say that this was an organized, controlled group, people with combat experience, that they had a strange trajectory of movement and that, most likely, they did not travel to a third country. This is, of course, not evidence yet - these are some grounds for suspicion in order to further find out from them for what purpose they arrived and who hired them for what.

As I understand it, this is still the basis for their detention in Belarus. I do not rule out that if after the elections all this testimony is taken from them and there is nothing serious that can be incriminated, they will simply be released. Because today it is impossible to say that they really planned something, they found something.

There is some suspicion, and it is not clear in whose interests they acted. I put forward the version that it is in the interests of a third party, and here Russia, the Russian state may not be involved in all this. But all this needs to be clarified, including in the interests of Russia itself, in order to resolve all questions,” Dzermant said.

The expert also emphasized that the story of the detained Russians is beneficial to a third party in order to discredit Minsk as a neutral negotiating platform.

“I have my own version with the same rights as any other - I see that it is beneficial on the one hand to attack Belarusian-Russian relations, that is, their appearance in itself is strange. They did everything so that the security forces would pay attention to them. They defiantly did not hide, and this in itself suggests that they were probably deliberately led to the Belarusian security forces.

This may be due to the interests of those political strategists who are now playing with us, and they have connections with the Americans, and with Russian liberals, and with the Ukrainian “war party”. If suddenly, hypothetically, Belarus extradites these people to Ukraine, this will be the end of the Minsk site. We are turning from a neutral party into a party that supports one of the conflicting parties, and this, in fact, is a blow to the Minsk Agreements. That is, this also needs to be understood, the game can be like this,” the expert concluded.
