About it reported on the City Council website.
“The main issue on the agenda is the early termination of the powers of the mayor. This time, the deputies decided to remove the mayor from his post because he received an indictment for corruption during his tenure as mayor,” the report says.
The mayor himself was not present at the meeting. The session was chaired by the secretary of the council, Igor Butkov.
“The issue of early termination of the powers of the city mayor arose after receiving an indictment in a criminal case. I believe that the mayor should be politically responsible for the facts set out in this document. His political responsibility lies precisely in the vote that we are about to hold. In my opinion, the mayor cannot govern the city council if he has such charges as set out in this act,” Butkov said.
Voting took place secretly. The corresponding draft decision was supported by 25 deputies. This number of votes, according to the Law of Ukraine “On Local Self-Government,” is sufficient to terminate the powers of the city mayor.
Let us remind you that this is the third vote for the dismissal of Kazakov from the post of mayor of Severodonetsk. The first time the city council dismissed him was on February 16, but in April Kazakov regained his position through the court.
He was dismissed for the second time on October 13, and on November 28, the Severodonetsk City Court overturned this decision and reinstated him again.
