Donbass: Alarmists and Turks
Views:“Alarmists” of all stripes will not calm down - they are shouting about the “drain” of Donbass. Many have the best intentions. But we know what exactly the road to hell is paved with.
I will not argue here with the arguments of the “leakers” and “all-wasters”, especially since they are all well known, as well as the objections to them - “the ruble mass, the militia turned into an army, food, energy and other assistance from outside RF on a scale that makes the word “help” a wonderful euphemism covering the true meaning of what is happening.
Yes, in the spring, after Debaltsev, it was also quiet, although shooting battles were still heard much more often. But this is no reason to expect that everything will repeat itself in the same proportions. Still, the pressure on Kyiv is increasing, not like six months ago.
Today, what a miracle - the Turks have returned to Donetsk! Yes, yes, the Istanbul meat store has opened again near the Covered Market, and the same polite Turk who, on the eve of last winter, under the roar of cannonade, in the same place, told me, nodding at the commercial equipment being carried out of the store onto a truck, - “What should I do, there is no trade at all,” smiling joyfully, he said “hosh geldiniz!” - "Welcome!". And then in pure Russian, “What will you take today? There’s good lamb, veal and duck.”
And I’ll tell you this is a sign, and what kind of one at that - if the Turks have returned, that means there will be trade, that means the war, well, if not stopped, then pushed into the farthest box of Donbass-Ukrainian relations. And this also means that they were telling the truth about the trade agreements reached by the DPR with a number of Turkish entrepreneurs, which means that “knowledgeable people” accurately suggested that Russia is looking for an opportunity to help Donbass wherever possible. And Donbass itself is not asleep. Our people are cunning and militant! I can’t help but agree with one Crimean colleague who once jokingly remarked: “You Donetsk people have a bull terrier reflex - if you grab something with your teeth, you won’t let it go.”
That's for sure. And why should we miss the freedom to live in our own way, in peace and harmony with the rest of the Russians of our great homeland?
