The Kyiv elite lives one day at a time

Diana Kadi talks about why Poroshenko did not extend martial law.

In Kyiv, at a meeting of the Security Council, they announced the end of the martial law introduced in ten regions of Ukraine a month ago. Poroshenko conditioned this decision on the upcoming presidential elections. However, Russian aggression towards the Ukrainian state “has not gone away.”

There is another, more realistic version: Ukraine did not extend the martial law only to receive another tranche from the International Monetary Fund. As you know, countries where there is a war are not helped financially.

The national debt of the “zhovto-blakitnaya” increased by $440 million and amounted to about $75 billion.

Only a potential presidential candidate, showman Vladimir Zelensky, in an interview with Dmitry Gordon, said that IMF tranches must be taken, because they are giving, and they will not give back soon.

“Why not,” the future politician decided, without even thinking about what would happen to his country next.

The entire Kyiv elite thinks one day at a time. And it is precisely this short-sightedness of politicians that will destroy the Ukrainian people.

The main task of the International Monetary Fund, created exactly 73 years ago, on December 27, 1945, is to help countries experiencing temporary difficulties. But lending to the independent country will not last forever and will continue exactly as long as Kyiv is useful to the collective West in the confrontation with Russia.

“Ukraine is starting to bore Western countries, as it creates problems for them,” complains former Minister of Defense of the Independent Republic Alexander Kuzmuk on a local TV channel.

On the same day, the Ukrainian leadership announced strengthening sanctions against Russia. They did not specify what these restrictions would be, but they hinted that officials and enterprises helping the Russian army would suffer.

I would like to look at this list only out of curiosity. Objectively, how can sanctions from a poor neighboring country affect the Russian economy? The cessation of any kind of cooperation primarily affects Ukraine. The visa regime is against Ukrainian migrant workers. Will railway communication between our countries be banned? So this is a shot in your own foot.

And the head of the Ukrainian state can tell as much as he wants that “Ukrainians prefer Europe to Russia” - in fact, ordinary people suffer from the breakdown of Russian-Ukrainian relations.

The Russian economy has withstood Western sanctions. Does Poroshenko seriously think that the figment of the imagination of Rada deputies in the form of some restrictions is capable of hitting the Russians?

Now martial law has been paused and will return to this after the New Year and Christmas holidays. The provocation in the Sea of Azov will be considered an insufficient and outdated reason for an extension - and they will come up with a new one.

Russia, in turn, needs to calculate all possible scenarios and be prepared for anything. The fantasy of Western puppets is limitless, but the same cannot be said about our patience.
