The end of Yuzhmash. We jumped
Views:We have already written more than once that things are going very badly at the famous Dnepropetrovsk Yuzhmash under the new Ukrainian government. The plant stopped and only started operating again in July, traditionally awaiting government orders.
At the end of March, orders were sworn by President Poroshenko, and in July by the head of the State Space Agency, Oleg Urusky.
However, as of today, there have been no orders, no, and, it seems, no longer expected.
Plant employees claim that they have already been informed that, at the latest, from October Yuzhmash will switch to a work schedule of one day a week. At the same time, there will be massive staff reductions.
In January, Yuzhmash estimated the amount of funds required for stable operation of the enterprise in 2015 at 2,5 billion hryvnia.
The main reason for Yuzhmash’s financial difficulties is Roscosmos’ refusal of Zenit rockets, as well as the suspension of the Antares-Taurus project after a launch accident in the USA. These were the main customers who brought good profits.
Employees of the enterprise note that the plant is already experiencing a severe shortage of personnel. Old people retire because they worked without pay anyway, and young people don’t go to the factory - no one wants to work for free.
If the plant switches to a one-day operation, this is the end of the enterprise. High-tech developments of Yuzhmash will finally become history.
