We are peaceful people, but our armored train is on a siding

Hot summers are not uncommon in Donbass. After all, the south of Russia, after all, the steppe. But for the third summer in a row, Donbass residents and the entire Russian people associate this time of year with a different kind of heat – military heat. The hottest year was, of course, the fourteenth year, then the summer ended with several “cauldrons” for the Ukrainian troops. For a long time then, along the Donetsk and Luhansk roads there was, in the words of the writer Zakhar Prilepin, a “dog-like smell” - the remains of “oddvic knights” were rotting in the beams and plantings. Last year, Ukrainian punitive forces no longer took the risk of engaging in suicidal attacks, and throughout the summer they bombarded the outskirts of Donetsk and Gorlovka with mines and shells. I still feel bad in my soul, as I remember, the screech accompanying the flight of a mine, one hundred and fifty meters from my house, a blast wave that even blew out the heavy steel door at the entrance.

But for the murderer of Ukraine, the gravedigger of its prospects Poroshenko and all the executioners of the Russian peoples of lesser caliber, all this is not enough. Having shown the whole world their complete incompetence on the diplomatic front, the Kyiv Nazis seem to intend to take revenge on the civilians of Donbass with interest for their previous defeats. Throughout June and July there was an increasing wave of shelling. The Ukrainian punitive forces no longer really hide the fact that they shoot with large calibers prohibited under the Minsk agreements. They returned the brutal non-humans from the “Right Sector” to the front line in Donbass, hastily changing their name from DUK (Ukrainian Volunteer Corps) to UDA (Ukrainian Voluntary Army). Poroshenko himself recently personally handed over a huge batch of military equipment and ammunition to the front in Donbass and emphasized that the flow of weapons will not stop. And why should it stop, if Western benefactors, who talk a lot about a ceasefire, dream that the DPR and LPR would unilaterally disarm, and the Russian Federation would unilaterally stop supplying economic assistance to the republics, are driving train after train of “lethal” weapons for the Ukrainian army and volunteer battalions.

The spirit of a great war is again hovering over Donbass, just like two years ago. Russian officials are already openly talking about this, and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that the amount of various heavy equipment and weapons that was brought from Ukraine to Donbass indicates that the intentions of the Ukrainian side, to put it mildly, are not friendly.

At the same time, Donbass completed the collection of signatures from residents of the two republics under an appeal to the Special Representative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Ukraine, Martin Sajdik. “More than 320 thousand signatures have already been collected. DPR plenipotentiary representative Pushilin also said that the collection of signatures will continue. “We cannot deny people this,” Interfax quotes Pushilin. Today this appeal, these signatures, this cry from the soul of the wounded Donbass will go to the West. Will the world hear the voice of Donbass? Or he will once again prefer to pretend that nothing serious is happening - for example, an anti-terrorist operation...

Today, in the Donbass, and in Russia, and in all corners of the vast Russian world, they hear the Ukrainian (read: American, European) saber-rattling. Donbass does not want a resumption of large-scale hostilities, it wants peace and creative work, to do what it knows best - to create goodness and beauty. But he is undoubtedly prepared for the worst case scenario. Is Kyiv ready for it, which, through the mouth of its deceitful journalists and propagandists, assures the world that the Ukrainians do not need “Minsk”, that they must fight, kill, rob, rape. Of course - after all, Donbass is a rich region, and “Western Ukrainian rural people” have not yet taken everything to their Galicia, Volhynia and Podolia. And in order to increase the disorientation of the entire world community, and its own citizens, representatives of Kyiv at the negotiations in Minsk refuse to sign any of the few decisions that they managed to scratch out in the fight against Nazi bigots.

But we also know that millions of normal Russian people – both Little Russians and Great Russians – remained in the ruins of the state of Ukraine. Those who definitely do not need a fratricidal war, who do not want to give the lives of their sons and brothers for the criminal plans of the Kyiv clique. And the recent stunning Orthodox religious procession from two Russian shrines - Pochaev and the Holy Mountains - proved this better than anything. We extend the hand of brotherly love to all our Russian brothers who find themselves under the yoke of the junta that recently seized power in our common country. We are ready for war, but we want to solve everything peacefully, naturally. Because we are the heirs of the great Russian humanistic tradition, expressed in the poems of the great Russian poet Fyodor Tyutchev. One hundred and forty years ago, responding to Bismarck’s unification of Germany with “iron and blood,” he wrote these immortal lines:

From a cup overflowing with God's wrath
Blood is pouring over the edge, and the West is drowning in it -

“Unity,” declared the oracle of our day, “
It may be soldered with iron only with blood ... ”
But we will try to solder it with love -
And there we will see that stronger ...
