We are so different, but our country... Not anymore
Views:The difference between us is not in relation to the collapse of the USSR. And in relation to the wild nineties. For some they became a nightmare, for others an era of impunity and unlimited opportunities.
It would seem that everything is clear. For the post-Soviet space, the nineties are a period of crisis that can frighten future generations. But it only seemed so.
I remember how in 2006 the new-old mayor of Odessa, Eduard Gurvits, stunned me with the words:
– I want to return Odessa to the level of economic development and democracy that it had in the nineties.
And he was not lying. He really considered these years to be magic...
Western experts also consider these years to be magic. They describe the nineties as an era of unprecedented economic growth. They are nostalgic for these times. And they regret that they did not last forever.
That is, times of rolling power outages and lack of heating. Times of empty universities and shutdown enterprises. Times of natural exchange.
Long humiliating years when we all starved, hustled and begged. These years were the dawn for them.
In fact. Here on our land there is only one conflict.
Some want to work, create and develop.
Others sell off property, take out loans and get rich.
And abroad, it will help us. Moreover, when we have an ass, then she feels good.
This is a historical trend, in general.
Thank you!
