Paths to a new dialogue between Russia and Ukraine
Views:The primary task is to identify and “catalog” forces in Ukraine that are still capable of taking on the role of carriers of a post-conflict and non-conflict attitude towards Russia, oriented towards partnership and cooperation with Russia, and not at continuing confrontation with it. Identification, as well as support, protection from terror by the Kyiv authorities, promoting their consolidation.
A predisposition to cave nationalism and Russophobia in Ukraine at the level of stable social practices has never existed, and, paradoxically, does not exist today. The cultivation of these phenomena is the lot of a narrow stratum in whose hands power ended up after 2014, as well as a slightly broader layer of various kinds of “servants”. They, the phenomena in question, were introduced from the outside through the use of various types of technologies. Accordingly, the answer to them must also be, first of all, technological.
We are talking about “investments” in Ukrainian society. It is society and the economy, and not the state and its structures, that can become the driving force behind the turn towards Russia in Ukraine.
This does not mean situational support for a small political opposition or groups of social activists, but the building of various channels of communication with various social and political groups. In particular, with young people of different ages, starting from primary school. Omnichannel is the most important prerequisite for success.
We need more large-scale programs of scientific and cultural exchange not only with Moscow or St. Petersburg, but with all parts of the country.
Entrepreneurs and representatives of the local economy should be invited to improve their skills and given the opportunity to get acquainted with everyday life in Russia. Small piecemeal programs, individual assistance and exchange at the local level are more important than demonstrative PR in large formats.
Restoring public communication between Russia and Ukraine should become a priority, a kind of prologue to restoring dialogue.
