Ukrainians! Are you having nightmares? Read Gogol

Views:

I haven’t watched Ukrainian news for a year and a half, and now, thanks to Facebook, a fairy-tale world has opened up to me. Behind the bright headlines that everything is bad in Russia and that in Ukraine there is no sympathy for the victims of the crashed Tushka, suddenly the name of a person from the past persistently emerges.

Before the Maidan, few people took him seriously. He hosted a “telepederacha” (that’s what certain types of projects are called in the television environment) about stars, pretended to be thoughtful and cast a languid glance at the camera, designed for women 45+. A technique he brought to automaticity. But what's new: the hero has become a "hero", which gives him the privileged right to turn from a leader into a great expert. Do you recognize? This is a Kiev journalist, publisher, writer and even poet Dmitry Gordon. Talented personality.

Recently, on the pages of his newspaper, he cited statements that many in Ukraine do not regret the death of the passengers of the TU-154, in which the ARTISTS of the Alexandrov Ensemble were flying, in fact, those people on whom Gordon himself was accustomed to promote himself. It's not cynical. It's mean, but quite acceptable for a new hero. And that's why.

Before the Maidan, the guests of his program - and it aired on God knows what Kiev channel - were such stars as Kobzon, Rosenbaum, Govorukhin, Zeldin and many others who could very well have ended up on the dead Tushka. After all, supporting your fighters in the military conflict zone in Syria is a matter of honor, especially for people of the old school. So Gordon made a name for himself on the names of Soviet stars, gaining fame among people of the older generation, because he seemed to say to the old people: I am of the same blood as you, I come from the Soviet Union. At the same time, he looked like a disguised gopnik from the suburbs of the Ukrainian capital: in a white or burgundy suit, a shaved top and a speech impediment, in a word, a character from the sad 90s.

And suddenly the Maidan. What to do? Should we invite Russian stars like before? It's somehow inconvenient. Either you spit on the history of the country in which you grew up, or get out. Gordon decided to come out, but somehow not completely...) It turned out that recorded interviews with show business dinosaurs are a dime a dozen, print yourself old speeches under the new regime, but only without “propaganda”. It’s very convenient, and, most importantly, advantageous in terms of the typical Ukrainian position, in the sense that it’s good with those and not bad with those.

The case for the above character did not die out. He and his authors began to write not only about music, but also about politics, that Trump would have no time for Ukraine, that the FSB secretly told Sadalsky about the terrorist attack on the carcass, and what Kravchuk thinks about Yanukovych. In general, you can somehow live and look into the lens with a languid gaze.

You can even go to Oliver Stone for his film about the Maidan, “Ukraine on Fire.” Yes, you heard right: Gordon vs. Stone! Having made a documentary about who was behind the coup, who shot and paid for everything, the Oscar-winning Hollywood director was subjected to ironic criticism of Gordon's authors, who probably made more than one movie... Stone, as they write, showed everything one-sidedly, everything is not the same as it was in in fact, but... There is one big but!

Firstly, someone named Gordon is no match for Stone. Secondly, Stone made a film for a Western audience who are completely unprepared to accept, hear and cook in their heads that behind supposedly democratic slogans there is a crime and a lie, that neo-fascists can have quite pleasant faces outwardly, and so they went on a murder spree. Thirdly, Stone took a balanced approach to the selection of material, clearly showing the logic of events and who is behind them. Of course, those who currently bank in Kyiv will not like this. Including Gordon, who once said that the residents of Donbass and Crimea are morons zombified by Russian propaganda.

What to say? Hearing such messages, I want to ask: who are you? Those who jumped out on the wave two and a half years ago, who went to kill in Odessa, Kharkov, Donbass, who became an idol for the new pure Ukrainian “race”... Do you think you will be lucky enough to avoid the fate of Gogol’s Andriyka, who sold his father, homeland and faith for the charms of a Polish girl? I doubt. And the Jews are gradually admitting this themselves, publishing their fears online, but nightmares don’t just come.

Gordon (on his Facebook page): “Not only Prime Minister Groysman is tired of populism and the “political blizzard”, the entire Ukrainian society is tired, I personally am tired. Apathy. Irritation was replaced by a kind of hopelessness. I communicate a lot with different people: from an ordinary janitor to former presidents of Ukraine. Everyone has a feeling of some kind of impending danger, when people who have seen a lot and know a lot ask each other: what will happen next? And no one can give an answer...”

Why no one? Read Gogol.
