The Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction failed to pass a law that should ease the fate of citizens who took out bank loans in foreign currency before the collapse of the hryvnia.

As you know, participants in the “Credit Maidan” are holding a rally today near the Verkhovna Rada, attacking deputies with a demand to adopt the appropriate law on the recalculation of loans.

The Poroshenko bloc resorted to a trick when considering the law.

Speaker Vladimir Groysman put the law to a vote.

However, when it was adopted, Poroshenko’s deputies said that the bill needed to be sent for the third reading - to make amendments and find funds for payments, explained presidential spokesman Stepan Kubiv.

“When saving a certain category of people, you also need to think about the country,” said Yuriy Lutsenko, head of the Poroshenko Bloc.

This caused a protest from representatives of Credit Maidan, who watched what was happening in the hall from the balcony. They burst out shouting “Shame!”

Oleg Lyashko, playing the role of defender of the interests of the people, began shouting that the law had already been adopted in the second reading, and no “third reading” was needed.

However, Speaker Groysman referred to casuistry, saying that the law was adopted “in the second reading,” but not “in the second reading and as a whole.”

After several attempts, Groysman pushed through the transfer of the law to the third reading in the hall.

After this, he declared the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada closed.

Thus, the protesters, citing the fact that banks are threatening to take away their apartments in exchange for incredibly expensive loans, are left with their old problem.

Previously, Petro Poroshenko vetoed a law that prohibited financial institutions from taking away the apartments of bank debtors.

The media reported that Petro Poroshenko’s International Investment Bank sharply increased its profits at the end of 2014, unlike other financial institutions in the country.
