Such data was published by the national dispatcher of the energy system “Ukrenergo”. As the company stated, there is now a large shortage of scarce grades of anthracite and lean coal.
Fuel shortages are felt by both state-owned and private energy companies. Thus, at the Zmievskaya TPP, part of the state-owned Centerenergo, out of 10 power units, 6 were stopped with a total capacity of 2 GW.
Ukrenergo reported that from April 1 to April 14, gas coal reserves decreased by 75 thousand tons, that is, coal reserves in the warehouses of all power plants are significantly below the required level.
The reason for this situation is explained by the low tariff for electricity generated by thermal power plants and debts for electricity already supplied to consumers.
