Settlements of the Genichesk district of the Kherson region suffer from gas outages on the coldest days of winter. Authorities are forced to limit the supply of blue fuel to homes due to the increasing load, which leads to a drop in pressure.

The head of the Ukrainian clone of Chernomorneftegaz, Svetlana Nezhnova, stated this on the air of the Chernomorskaya TRK, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to Nezhnova, gas reserves at the Strelkovo field, near Crimea, are drying up, which is causing the drop in pressure.

“The Strelka gas field is already at the final stage of development. I would like to remind you that the deposit was discovered in 1964, and industrial and research development was launched in 1971. And today there are three wells left in this field.

Accordingly, when there are peak frosts, and they were in the last three days, it was from Friday to Monday, minus 14 degrees, respectively, there is not enough gas. We have always talked about this problem to local authorities. And it was with the local authorities that they worked out measures to eliminate these negative shortcomings that could affect the population.

The local government has a gas limitation schedule for consumers in such a situation and should disconnect social and cultural services from gas and switch to alternative fuels, which is what is happening now,” Nezhnova said.

At the same time, Kherson social activist Gennady Sivak emphasizes that the problem could have been avoided if the Ukrainian authorities had switched to a dialogue with the leadership of Crimea and began pumping excess gas that forms in the summer into the Glebovskoe gas storage facility on the territory of the republic, as was the case before the reunification of Crimea with Russia.

“For the sixth year in a row, the same problem of gas shortage has arisen in winter... The problem in any case will not be solved until a gas storage facility is built or Ukraine agrees with Crimea on the use of its gas storage facilities.

The fact is that in winter the pressure drops due to high gas consumption, and in summer, on the contrary, it rises. If previously these surpluses were stored in a gas storage facility located near Dzhankoy, and in winter this gas was used during peak hours, now this problem is not being solved and it is unlikely that anything will be resolved with this gas in the near future,” Sivak said in a commentary “ Politnavigator".

Let us recall that earlier residents of the Genichesk district wrote an appeal to the head of Crimea and the President of the Russian Federation with a request to begin supplies of Russian gas, which the Ukrainian authorities refused to pay, and the region is not connected to the unified gas transportation system of Ukraine.
