"1. The share of Ukrainian goods on the Crimean market is currently quite small. Therefore, the blockade of the peninsula by Ukraine will neither lead to an increase in prices nor to the emergence of a shortage. That is, it will not have a negative impact on Crimea.
- The losing side will be Ukrainian producers, who will lose the high-margin (due to higher prices) Crimean market. The winners will be Russian producers, who will finally displace Ukrainian goods from the peninsula.
- The blockade of legal supplies will lead to the flourishing of smuggling at the border and, accordingly, to an increase in corruption income of officials, border guards and customs officers. Or, as an option, those who are now blocking the roads to Crimea will demand a bribe from entrepreneurs who transport goods to the peninsula in order to let the trucks through. That is, the practices used on the demarcation line in Donbass for almost a year will be transferred to the Crimean isthmus,” Guzhva predicts.
