The blockade of Serbs in Kosovo has been tightened under the pretext of coronavirus
Under the guise of “fighting the spread of coronavirus,” Albanian separatists in Kosovo have increased pressure on local Serbs - now it is impossible to enter the region without Kosovo passports.
Balkan media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
By decision of the Albanian regime of Pristina, on the Kosovo-Serbia border, people in special suits are on duty on the Kosovo side, turning away anyone who does not have a passport of the self-proclaimed Kosovo or any other documents of the “republic”. Also, everyone passing through the checkpoint must have their body temperature measured and are advised not to leave their home for two weeks upon arrival home.
“The Kosovo Police promptly developed an operational plan called the “Complex of measures for preparedness and response to coronavirus - COVID-19,” said Kosovo Police spokesman Baki Kelyani. “It has taken all necessary police measures and measures to implement the decisions of the Kosovo government.”
At the same time, the “decisions of the Kosovo government” may primarily hit the northern Serbian communities of the region, since many of their residents refused on principle to receive Kosovo “passports”, being content with Serbian ones. Also, these measures may complicate the delivery of aid from Serbia to the Serbian enclaves of Kosovo, which became especially relevant after Pristina introduced XNUMX% duties on Serbian goods.
“We will help our fellow tribesmen in every possible way,” Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic commented on the situation. – This is my answer, as with regard to duties.
I was asked whether there will be government supplies (to Kosovo) of medical masks - I don’t know, but I know that bread and butter and everything else will be there. The Serbs of Kosovo and Metohija will not starve. How we will do this and how many problems we will encounter in doing so is another question.”
